CGIA Profiles for Board Members


President: Todd Krapf
Todd has worked in the employee benefits industry for 15 years. He is currently a Senior Group Representative with Sun Life Financial after previously working at United Healthcare and Beacon Risk Strategies. Todd has been a CGIA member for five years. He is in his first year as President after co-chairing the Social Committee for three years and the Membership Committee for a year.

Vice President & Secretary: Amy Goswick
Amy Goswick is an Account Executive at IMA of Colorado. She has been in the employee benefits/human resource management arena for 13 years. Amy has been an active member of CGIA for 6 years and is involved in the Legislative committee. Amy has a BS in Human Resource Management and her Masters in Organizational Management. She is Series 6 and 63 licensed and currently working towards her CEBS.

Treasurer: Melanie Maddocks
Melanie has over ten years of experience in the health care industry. As a senior actuarial analyst for Leif Associates, her work focuses on rate development, data analysis, provider reimbursement analysis, claim audits, lag chart development and analysis, rate studies, rating tool development, and miscellaneous research. She is also the office manager of Leif Associates. Her responsibilities include employee benefits, payroll, taxes, accounts receivables and payables. Melanie has a BS in Mathematics from Creighton University and is in the process of taking actuarial exams.

Information Technology Chair: Lindsay Horning
Lindsay has worked in the employee benefits consulting industry for over 7 years. She began her career as a Network Engineer in Chicago before moving into the benefits arena with Hewitt Associates. Lindsay relocated to Denver in 2004 and is currently a Health and Welfare Consultant with Aon Consulting. Lindsay received a BS in Business Administration from Miami University of Ohio and is currently pursuing her Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) designation.

Programs Chair: Jennifer Becker
Jennifer has worked in the employee benefits consulting industry for over 4 years. She began her career as the Programs Coordinator for the Fort Collins Area Chamber of Commerce. Jennifer is currently a Health and Welfare Specialist with Aon Consulting, and has been an active member of CGIA for three years. Jennifer received a BS in Natural Resources Management with a minor in Conservation Biology at Colorado State University, and is currently pursuing her Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) designation.

Communications Chair: Kari Uppinghouse
Kari Uppinghouse, Strategic Account Executive with UnitedHealthcare has been in the insurance industry for the past 5 years. Prior to joining UnitedHealthcare, Kari worked as an Account Manager for IMA of Colorado, Inc. After graduating from the University of Nebraska, Kari began her career working on the carrier side at Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield.

Legislative Chair: Dale Curtis
Dale Curtis is an employee benefits consultant with IMA of Colorado. Dale began his career in employee benefits in 1997 as a Benefits Consultant at a local agency where he also served as Corporate Counsel, Director of Cafeteria Plan Third-Party Administration, and Chief Operating Officer. He has a Law Degree and is licensed to practice law in Colorado. Dale has been active in CGIA for over ten years.

Social and Golf Tournament Co-Chair: Daneen Stang
Dani Stang is the Senior Sales Executive for United Healthcare's Specialty Benefits Division. She has 15 years of industry experience specializing in Ancillary with MetLife and UNUM. This is Dani's fifth year on the Board as the Social/Golf Tournament Chair and she continues to enjoy being part of such a vibrant and impactful industry organization.


Social and Golf Tournament Co-Chair: Tom Applehans
Tom has been in the insurance industry for more than 20 years. He spent more than 10 years in employer stop-loss and third party administration sales and sales management. He worked in the brokerage and consulting market for 4 years, and most recently has joined Meritain Health as Regional Vice President of Sales for the West. He has served CGIA for many years.

Continuing Education Chair: Sheryl Briles-Thomson
Sheryl Briles-Thomson has worked in the insurance industry for more than 13 years. Prior to her current position as a Senior Analyst at WellPoint, Inc., she worked as an Account Executive with PacifiCare and served as a consultant to the Board of Directors as Plan Representative for CoverColordo. Sheryl has been active with CGIA for many years in a variety of roles, including Program Chair, Vice-President, and President.
